Banbury Young Musician of the Year announced

The award for Junior Musician of the Year went to pianist Diego Sunga for his performance of Over the Rainbow.

The finals of the 27th annual Banbury Young Musician of the Year competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Banbury, took place at Tudor Hall on Saturday, February 25.

The judges congratulated all the entrants on their high standards, and last year’s winner, Venetia Moir, entertained the audience with a 15-minute masterclass on the brief history of the recorder.

Rotary president Owen Kyffin thanked Rotarian Gareth Jeremy for his commitment to the competition.

Singers Jenny Look, Mary Eckert and India Harwood and woodwind player Jessica Foxwell were selected to perform at the District Finals on Saturday, March 11.
