Big-hearted slimmers in Banbury have collected 250 bags of clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Heather Woodward, who runs one of the groups which meets every Saturday morning at Frank Wise School, encouraged members, their friends and families to collect clothes, shoes and accessories as part of the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw.

The amount will be then used as stock at Banbury’s Cancer Research UK shop on Parsons Street.

Mrs Woodward said: “This year’s Big Slimming World clothes Throw event has been a fantastic success and I was overwhelmed by the amount of bags our members managed to collect for Cancer Research UK - they really are amazing!

“It was a fantastic atmosphere in the group and it was so rewarding to raise such a phenomenal amount of stock for such an incredible cause.”

Members of the Banbury groups have lost an amazing 1,240st between them since January by making small changes to the way they shop, cook and eat and becoming more active.

Each bag of clothes raises up to £25 for the charity, and last year slimmers collected close to £1 million worth of stock.

All profits go to support life-saving work to help beat cancer sooner.
