Banbury Mayor Shaida Hussain is urging people to go the extra mile at a charity event in Spiceball Park on Sunday, September 9.
Cllr Hussain is asking residents to join her on a sports-themed walk through the park in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
She wants walkers of all ages to dress up in sports outfits from athletes to volleyball players and everything in-between although people in everyday clothes won’t be turned away.
The mayor hopes that men, women and children will take up the one-mile challenge, with the £1 per person entry fee going to charity.
Cllr Hussain said: “The sports-theme walk is just a mile long so that everyone, including the very young and the elderly, can take part without difficulty.
“Walking is something I enjoy and this is a way the whole community can come together and raise money for good causes.
She added: “It’s not a race and there is no time limit. We’ll set off at 11.30am and people can finish in their own time. The money raised will go into the mayor’s fund which will be shared out between Banbury charities and good causes at the end of my mayoral year.”
Passes can be bought from the town hall or on the day of the walk.
