Banbury primary school steps up to the mark for Sport Relief

Staff and children at Hill View Primary School in Banbury are aiming to take 19,000 steps to equal the height of Africa's tallest mountain and raise funds for Sport Relief.

The school has spent all week doing the challenge, with all 440 children doing ‘step ups’ to reach the collective height of Mount Kilimanjaro during their sports sessions.

Emma Gould, deputy headteacher, said: “We were trying to think of something to do all together and we have done some previous work with schools in Africa and in particular Malawi so we decided to choose Kilimanjaro as a target.

“The children are absolutely loving it but also understand the importance of why we are doing something like this.”
