Banbury police officer in computer misuse charges

A serving police officer has been charged with computer misuse and data protection offences in Banbury.

PC Matthew Oaten, 29, was suspended by Thames Valley Police in June of this year and has been charged today (Wednesday) with two counts of computer misuse and two counts of breaching the Data Protection Act.

The alleged offences, some of which are alleged to have taken place while PC Oaten was on-duty, happened between February 2013 and May this year.

PC Oaten is scheduled to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 5 November.
