Banbury police officer cleared of misconduct

A Thames Valley Police officer has been cleared of breaching the standards of professional behaviour, following a misconduct hearing.

PC Neil Budd, who is based at Banbury police station, was cleared of breaching the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity at the hearing on August 17.

The allegation related to the subsequent alteration of a contemporaneous handwritten record of an interview, conducted with a man in relation to a road traffic collision.

A misconduct hearing took place at Thames Valley Police Headquarters in Kidlington. The public hearing was presided over by an independent, legally qualified chair assisted by an Assistant Chief Constable and a lay member.

The panel concluded that the case was not proven and PC Budd will now return to full duty.
