The long-running saga of the Banbury Phonebox Library now looks to be over as it was cleared of books and literature.

The phonebox outside St John’s Church on Oxford Road was set up as a book exchange last summer, and residents had been fighting with BT after the telecoms giant issued an eviction notice for health and safety reasons.

But the feud seems to have reached its conclusion today (Tuesday) as the phonebox has been been stripped of its books.

A campaign had been launched by residents to try and save the iconic phonebox, which included support from Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry and Banbury Town Council.
