Banbury journalist Joby Mullens is putting his passion for cycling to good use to give something back to the Horton General Hospital, following an operation last month.
Mr Mullens, of Grimsbury, will cycle to Holland and back over ten days starting on August 27 .
“My route takes in Oxford, Cambridge, the medieval wool town of Lavenham in Suffolk, Harwich, Delft, The Hague, Rotterdam, Ghent, Brussels, Bruges and Veurne in Belgium and Dunkirk in France. Then back to Dover, Canterbury, London, Marlow and Oxford returning to Banbury on September 5,” he said. Sponsors should visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/banbury2holland-for-the-horton
“I’m planning to stay in hostels along the way and just take one backpack for the 10 days,” said Mr Mullens, 39, who works at Oxford Alumni Office and rides with Banbury Star cyclists.
“I’ve got no specific desire to be in the limelight so to speak but have an overwhelming desire to do my utmost to give something back to the truly wonderful staff at the hospital for the incredible support and care they give to so many.
“Not least I am personally grateful to them for the care they gave me when I was admitted for a routine operation in June this year.”
