Kathryn and Lester Whitby’s event at Middleton Cheney Sports and Social Club on Saturday, March 10, was in memory of Imogen.

The cake sales were in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity which helped the family before Immy died in January, 2017.

Kathryn said: “Lester and I are blown away to raise so much money for The Brain Tumour Charity in Immy’s memory. And we have been overwhelmed by the support from our community.

“We met some very special people who said they ‘just wanted to be here to support the event.’

“It means the world to us to do our bit in helping to raise money for research and awareness into this cruel disease and save other parents our heartache.”

Geraldine Pipping from the charity said they were grateful the couple helped raise money for research ‘in their beautiful little girl’s memory’.

“Our very first Big Bandana Bake launched on March 2, to kick off Brain Tumour Awareness Month,” she said.

“We are aiming to raise 150,000 pounds to fund a life-saving research project for over two years.

“Our wonderful supporters like Kathryn and Lester are holding cake sales all over the UK throughout March.

“Although brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and under-40s in the UK, less than two per cent of the money spent on cancer research a year goes on brain tumours.

“As we have no government funding, we rely 100 per cent on fundraisers like Kathryn and Lester, donations and gifts in wills to help us in our battle to defeat brain tumours.”
