Banbury and District Show to have a royal theme to mark Queen's 90th birthday

The show, which is being held on June 12, in Spiceball Park will feature a special section to honour the Queen’s life and reign alongside motorcycle stunt riders, dog agility and sport demonstrations.

A giant television screen will show the birthday celebrations and historical film footage including the coronation.

Brass band and dance performances, free cake decorating and craft workshops, games and giveaways will have a focus on royalty. There will also be face painting and balloon modelling and visitors can dress in their favourite royal themed attire.

Colin Clarke, chairman of Banbury Town Council’s general services committee, said: “The show is a fantastic family day out.

“This year’s will be of the usual high standard and with the added tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.

“I’m sure the patriotic people of Banbury will come and pay their respects to this country’s longest-serving monarch – and enjoy all the other attractions on offer.”

The show runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm with free admission.

The motorcycle display will feature the Xtreme Stunt Team while pet lovers can enter their dog into nine classes of the Up ‘n’ Over Dog Training Club’s dog show.

The doggie theme will continue in the main arena with Banbury Cross Flyball demonstrations in which teams of dogs race against each other, over hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball when the dog presses a spring-loaded pad.

The dogs have to catch the ball and take it back to their handlers.

Stall and sideshows will include a funfair, inflatables zone, go karts, free table top football, children’s farm, climbing wall, quad bikes, falconry, ferret racing, charity stalls, food and drink stands including a beer tent.
