Arrest made after woman raped in Banbury park

A 26-year-old man from Banbury has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident in Princess Diana Park on Saturday.

The arrest was made after when a woman in her late teens was attacked at about 3.45am.

The man is currently in custody and detectives are working to establish the circumstances of the incident with officers conducting enquiries and patrols in the area.

Detective Constable Darren Pomroy of Force CID based at Banbury Police Station said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Princess Diana Park and who saw anyone acting suspiciously.

“If you have any information please contact police via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.”
