The festive event is inspired by Ron’s Christmas lunch set up by BFS colleague Mike Day last year in honour of his late father.

The Adderbury event aimed to tackle loneliness and isolation amongst older people by providing a traditional Christmas lunch and entertainment at BFS’s in-house restaurant.

Edward Winterton, UK chief executive at BFS, said: “Christmas can be a tough time of year for many older people, particularly for those who live alone. At BFS we’re always keen to support local charities, so we’re thrilled to team up with Age UK Oxfordshire to help spread a little joy this Christmas to those who might otherwise spend the season alone.”

Ruth Swift at Age UK Oxfordshire, added: “Sadly, there are around 11,000 older people across the county that regularly experience loneliness. Initiatives like this are vital as they give local older people the opportunity to come together with others and have fun.

“We’re very grateful to the team at BFS for organising the event and giving many local people the opportunity to get together and enjoy the festivities in good company.”

Organised by colleagues in BFS’s Construction Finance team, the initiative aims to raise £4,500 which will cover the costs of the lunch and provide a cash donation to the charity.
