Academy seeks alumni to mentor its students
The academy is one of around 400 state schools registered with the education charity, Future First, to set up networks of former students or alumni whose talents they can harness.
More than 150,000 former students in Britain have signed up to stay connected with their old school as career and education role models, mentors or e-mentors, work experience providers, governors, donors or fundraisers.

Hide AdAdam Leyburn, sixth form director, said: “We signed up to Future First’s scheme straightaway to build our own alumni network. Over the last few years, we have had many students leave us to go on to great university courses, quality apprenticeships, as well as directly into the workplace; their experience will be vital in helping us to broaden current pupils’ jobs horizons and equip them for the world of work.”
Among the academy’s alumni are Sam Thatcher, who is now recording his own music whilst studying a BA Honours in Music Technology at Huddersfield University and Molly Burnett who works ful-time in sales customer services and sales.
