A driver was punched in the face during a road rage attack in Banbury.

The assault took place as the victim was waiting by the traffic lights at the junction of Longford Park Road and Oxford Road in Bodicote at around 6.55am last Thursday (August 4).

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The victim was approached by the driver of a silver Skoda who had allegedly been driving dangerously when an argument began.

The driver of the Skoda had been reportedly attempting to overtake cars in the 30 and 40-mph zones and driving recklessly along the Oxford Road in the direction of Adderbury from Banbury.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said "There was a verbal altercation between them before the man punched the victim twice in the face.

"Officers are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference number 43220345859.

"Alternatively, provide information anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via its website."
