Staff members at Highmarket House care home took residents on a day trip to Bournemouth to enjoy the sun, sea, and fish and chips with a pint of beer.

The trip was organised for resident Martin Keane, 71, who had not visited the seaside in over 18 years and missed the tranquility of the sights and sounds of the coast.

The Highmarket House residents enjoyed a walk along the pier with ice creams before sitting and enjoying the views with a fish and chip lunch.

Martin said: “I really enjoyed the day out to the seaside and my favourite part was being on the sea front and sipping my pint of Stella, I also couldn’t have asked for better company and better care.”

Francesca Cowley, manager at Highmarket House, said: “Our trip to Bournemouth was one for the books, and there’s no doubt we’ll still be talking about it for weeks to come.”

“Martin loves the seaside and has shared countless stories of his beach holidays over the years, so when he made a wish to enjoy a fish and chip supper by the sea, we knew we had to make it happen.

“It was incredibly rewarding for the team to see just how happy he was to be near the sea again – the smile on his face said it all. It was a lovely day out for the residents, and we are delighted we were able to make Martin’s wish to visit the seaside again come true!”
