It’s that time of year again where we can boo, hiss and cheer to our hearts content in the theatre (without being asked to leave...)
Cherwell Theatre Company promise all of this and more, as they return to The Mill Arts Centre in January 2015 with their tenth consecutive festive production, Robin Hood: The Panto.
As always, this year’s fun-filled show sees a band of professional actors unite with talented, aspiring performers from assorted youth groups.
In a newly commissioned script by company regulars Tristan Pate, Penny Tasker and Neil Hobson, the story finds Robin Hood and his merry men in big trouble.
While cowardly King John has taxed the poor folk of Nottingham down to the last groat, the town’s evil sheriff has tightened the net on Robin and his men – so much so that the outlaws are forced to disband.
In a unique twist, plucky Maid Marian brings together a group of fearless heroines in Sherwood Forest.
They begin to stand up to the King and his cronies by robbing from the rich and giving to the poor.
Will Robin Hood and his merry men get back together to help Marian and ‘the sisterhood’ in their cause?
Packed with jokes, original songs, lovable characters and the magic of traditional pantomime, Robin Hood looks set to be Cherwell Theatre Company’s most ambitious project yet – the perfect way to celebrate their anniversary year.
The show runs at The Mill Arts Centre from January 10-18.
Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) and are available from www.themillartscentre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01295 252050.
