Hook Norton Brewery is marking its 171st and most challenging year of beer and brewing with a trio of limited edition anniversary beers - 171 Strong Ale, 171 Gold and 171 Coffee Stout.

Hook Norton Brewery managing director James Clarke said: “We started the idea of brewing some anniversary beers a few years ago, when on a whim as we were 167 years old, we decided to brew one beer at 6.7 per cent.

"This was based on the iconic Old Hooky recipe, but brewed to a much higher strength.

So followed 168 and 169 and for last year, the 170th anniversary, we extended the range to 170, and 170 Gold; the latter based on Hooky Gold. This year we have seen unprecedented challenges, with the brewery and pubs facing the biggest threat in their entire history.

"This led us to decide that we should extend the range further. So look out for 171, 171 Gold, and 171 Coffee Stout, available only from the Brewery Shop or online. At 7.1 per cent alcohol, these are beers to share, to enjoy and to respect.”
