The Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) 2025 guide of the best pubs in the UK has recently been released. Here are the guide’s best pubs in and around Banbury.
CAMRA uses the guide to celebrate great pubs but also to highlight that many pubs and breweries are struggling to stay open in the current climate.
Here is a list of the 11 best pubs in the Banbury area as selected by CAMRA experts.
Address: 47 Parsons Street, OX16 5NA. CAMRA said: "A wide range of Hook Norton beers are available, along with a varied menu. The oak-panelled Globe Room is thought to be where Cromwell’s soldiers planned the siege of Banbury Castle." Photo: Google
Address: Market Place, OX7 5DD. CAMRA said: "Four handpumps serve ales from the Hook Norton range in the contemporary and light, open-style bar." Photo: Google
Address: Mill Lane, OX7 4NN. CAMRA said: "A 17th-century Cotswold stone pub set back off the road, featuring an inglenook fireplace, wooden beams, and a flagstone bar, ideal for a pint of local Hook Norton beer or one of two guest ales." Photo: Google
Address: Station Road, OX17 1PW. CAMRA said: "Welcoming 17th-century pub in the heart of the village. Well-kept ales can be sampled in the bar, and a menu, changed every two months, is available in the bar and restaurant." Photo: Google
