The R&B, Hip Hop and Pop musician has found a new lease of life by performing at the events, including Clacton-on-Sea’s first ever Pride in July which received national media attention.

The singer, who featured on the X Factor back in 2016 and spent time at Sharon Osbourne’s house, has always struggled to find consistent gigs in Banbury but has now found success at Pride events being held across the country.

Macco has performed at eight Pride festivals this year and will be playing at the New Forest Pride Festival this Saturday ( August 20), enabling him to play music to a wide range of people throughout the country.

Jay Macco said: “It’s been really exciting, the one I played at in Clacton and put on the news was the first ever Pride event they have done there so to do a gay pride event there was phenomenal. I have my own dance moves I’ve created and to see 500 hundred people doing them is incredible.

The musician, who has been singing since his childhood, would like to see more varied music being played in his home town of Banbury and has just opened a record shop in the town Macc’s Music Store underneath The Old Town Cafe on Parson’s Street, where he will stock rare and signed copies of music.

Macco said: "It’s easy to give up on your dreams when you get to adolescence in small towns because of work and family pressures, but I will never stop – it’s a part of my life, it’s what motivates me to get up in the morning. I’ve always done music, and it will always be a part of what I am.

“One of my main criteria is performing for no fees, I love to play just for the opportunity to do it”

Jay Macco has upcoming gigs at JT's Bar and restaurant and the White Horse in Banbury over the next coming weeks.
