Ultra-rare pre-production Ford Sierra RS Cosworth goes up for sale
An incredibly rare Ford Sierra RS Cosworth is expected to fetch as much as £60,000 as it goes up for auction.
The 30-year-old example is one of only 10 right-hand-drive pre-production models and is thought to be the only surviving road car.

With more than 200bhp from a turbo-charged four-cylinder Cosworth engine, a 0-60mph time of 6.2 seconds, rear-wheel-drive and a wild body kit, the Sierra RS Cosworth was a poster vehicle for performance car fans and found fame in the world of touring car racing and rallying.
The car being sold by online auction site The Market was one of the very first examples, built in 1985, and has covered 68,000 miles from new. Thought to be one of Ford’s original press cars, it was exported to New Zealand in 1994 and after changing hands several times underwent a major overhaul in 2009. The car was repatriated to the UK in 2016 and once again wears its original registration number.
Tristan Judge, director of The Market, commented: “This car is a piece of Ford history. Not only is this one of the most desirable fast Fords made but this is one of the very first examples ever built.

The auction is due to run from July 23 to July 30 and the car is being sold with an estimate of £39,000 to £59,000. However, previous Sierra Cosworths have reached six-figure prices in recent years, with an explosion in interest in fast Fords.
