‘Track-ready’ Ford Mustang Mach 1 is coming to the UK
Ford has confirmed that the Mustang Mach 1 will arrive in the UK later this year.
Billed as the fastest Mustang around a track ever offered in Europe the special edition gets more power, an upgraded chassis, enhanced aero package and unique styling to make it stand out from the “regular” V8 muscle car.
The Mustang Mach 1 name has adorned previous generations of Ford’s iconic model since 1969 but this latest is the first one to reach Europe.
On sale now priced from £55,185 and with deliveries starting in the summer, the Mach 1 is powered by a retuned version of the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 found in all Mustang GT models. In the Mach 1 it offers 454bhp and 390lb ft thanks to a software remap and enhanced open air induction system. It also benefits from uprated oil and transmission cooling borrowed from the Shelby GT50 to offer better track endurance, plus underbody fins to aid brake cooling for high-speed driving.

For the first time in Europe, buyers can opt for a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission with rev matching, although the car is also available with the existing 10-speed auto.
Chassis upgrades include a unique calibration for the MagneRide adjustable dampers, new suspension bushes, a limited-slip differential, stiffer front springs and anti-roll bars and new steering components and tuning to make it the most precise Mustang ever sold in Europe, according to its makers.
Aerodynamic improvements include a redesigned front splitter and purpose-made rear spoiler plus a longer undertray and the rear diffuser from the US-only Mustang Shelby GT500. The splitter and spoiler also add to the car’s visual changes, along with gloss black detailing and prominent Mach 1 badging. Inside, the Mach 1 is largely the same as any other Mustang GT but with the addition of a a plaque bearing the car’s chassis number and a white cue ball gearknob.
Buyers will be able to spec their Mustang Mach 1 in a choice of eight colour and stripe combinations or opt for the £1,400 Mach 1 Appearance Pack which offers a Fighter Jet grey body, satin black bonnet and side stripes with reflective orange highlights, orange Brembo brake calipers and orange interior trim accent.
