An afternoon of folk for free in Banbury

An afternoon of free music is taking place on Sunday July 31 to promote Banbury Folk Club and the town's folk festival.

The courtyard of the Banbury Cross pub in Butcher’s Row hosts the event from 1pm to 6pm, with five acts on the bill.

Guaranteed to start the concert with a bang is Chris Beck, performing self-penned material and rocky numbers. Chris has enjoyed a varied career in music, theatre and television.

Malc Gurnham and Gill Gilsenan of Bedworth Folk Club have more than 80 years’ experience between them of singing on the folk scene. Warwick trio Alkevan are a fresh combination of voices and instruments singing mainly original songs written by guitarist Kevin Moffat. West Oxfordshire act Under the Wychwood perform s original material as well as up-beat covers, while the finale for the concert will be The Linda Watkins Band. Linda’s performances always involve a collection of different instruments which lend their individual tones to her songs.
