Six Banbury area schools either partially or fully close due Covid-19

As many as a half dozen Banbury area schools have closed early for the half term school break due to Covid-19.

Several schools fully closed while some others only partially closed sending only classes home to isolate due to the pandemic.

The following schools temporarily closed due to Covid-19.

- Wroxton Primary School temporarily closed from Tuesday October 13 through Sunday November 1.

- St Mary's Church of England Primary School temporarily closed from Monday October 19, and will reopen on Tuesday November 3.

- Hardwick Primary School temporarily closed from Friday October 16 through the half term break, and will reopen on Monday November 2.

The following schools partially temporarily closed due to Covid-19.

- Wykham Park Academy temporarily closed one class, year 9, from Tuesday October 20 until after half term, through Friday October 30.

- Dashwood Banbury Academy temporarily closed one class, Hazel class in year 1 due to a positive case of Covid-19 within their bubble. Dashwood Academy partially closed from Tuesday October 21 and through the half term break on Friday October 30. It is expected to fully reopen after the half term break.

- Hanwell Fields Community School temporarily closed one class, year 5. The partial closure for Hanwell Fields is from Tuesday October 20 through reopening on Tuesday November 3.

The executive headteacher for The Warriner School, Dr. Annabel Kay, submitted the following statement on the impact of Covid-19 on its school: ​"To date we have had two staff and one student test positive.

"I am really pleased that all have mild or no symptoms. Whilst we would not want anyone from our community to be affected, the fact that we have had just three out of a population of over 1600 is tantamount to the massive effects being made by all staff and children to keep each other safe.

"We have been planning hard to ensure that we can live stream lessons to those children who are self-isolating and have been able to put these plans into effect for all children who find themselves having to be at home. This will means little or no disruption to their education.

Banbury children's charity, The Let's Play Project, also posted notice of its temporary closure on its website due to Covid-19.

The Let's Play Project temporarily closed from Monday October 19 and will remain closed until Monday November 2.
