Four more Banbury area schools partially close due to Covid-19

Four more Banbury area schools have partially closed due to the impact of Covid-19 bringing the total number of current partial closures to seven.

The headteacher at Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney has confirmed the sixth form has been sent home for 'home learning online' due to the impact of Covid-19 at the school.

Headteacher Jane Cartwright said: "This week, because we are concerned that we have had a few cases in our sixth form, we have made the decision to move all sixth form learning online until Thursday 26th November. All learning in years 7-11 continues in school as normal."

A letter sent to parents at the school said the decision was made after the school was made aware of three students testing positive within the last 24 hours.

According to the Oxfordshire County Council's emergency school closure list, six other schools in the Banbury area have been listed as partially closed due to Covid-19.

The year 6 bubble from Dashwood Academy Banbury closed from Monday November 9 for one week, returning on Monday November 16.

The Warriner School said 284 year 8 students were sent home for self-isolating from Monday November 9. The return dates will be staggered from Tuesday November 17 to Monday November 23.

The Ace Centre Nursery School in Chipping Norton is also listed as partially closed due to Covid. Due to a positive Covid-19 case at the nursery school all staff and children who were in contact have been notified of the need to self-isolate until Wednesday 18th November 18.

Class 3S from Bloxham Church of England Primary School is closed, as the children are self-isolating. The partial closure for Bloxham Primary School is from Friday November 6 until Monday November 23 when the children will return to school from class 3.

Wykham Park Academy is also listed on the county's website as partially closed due to Covid-19.

A spokesperson for Aspirations Academies Trust, which runs Wykham Park Banbury, said: ''The whole of Year 11 at Wykham Park Banbury is self-isolating following a cluster of Covid-19 cases this week.

"We apologise for any disruption this causes to learning but we are following Public Health England guidance in relation to Covid-19. Online learning has resumed and learning packs issued where necessary.

"Students who are self-isolating will also have contact with teaching staff who will be on hand to provide help and guidance. Our year 11 students will return to Wykham Park on November 23rd.

"'The school remains open for all other students and year groups.''

William Morris Primary School is also listed as a partial closure due to Covid-19. The year two bubble of pupils is now closed for a two-week period from Wednesday November 4 to Thursday November 19.
