Enjoy Banbury's parks as part of national 'Love Parks' campaign

The national Love Parks Week campaign (July 29 - August 5) is organised by the environment charity Keep Britain Tidy and gives people across the country the chance to appreciate their wonderful green areas, as well as the efforts of the volunteers and workers who work hard to maintain and protect our green spaces.

A recent YouGov survey found that 62 per cent of parents consider visiting the park the highlight of their child's day, and the same percentage of dog walkers agree that it makes up the highlight of their day too.

Banbury has twelve neighbourhood parks, including People’s Park and Spiceball Park, plus 90 open spaces and more than 50 play and teenage areas including two new play facilities on Hanwell Fields.

Cllr Martin Phillips, chairman of Banbury Town Council’s general services committee, said: “The aim of Love Parks Week is to get as many people as possible, young and old, outdoors to take advantage of their local parks. Parks are excellent places for fresh air and to boost mental health. They are places for families to enjoy.

“Whether it’s picnicking with friends, pushing youngsters on playground swings or walking dogs, our parks are important amenities that give adults, children, and pets vital spaces to play, grow, and bond.

“This town is extremely fortunate to have such a choice of park facilities and Love Parks Week is an opportunity for us to encourage people to make good use of them.”
