Don't be a 'no-show' at pubs and restaurants, says Banburyshire brewery boss

'Please don't be a no-show when you have made a table booking'. That is the plea by Hook Norton Brewery boss James Clarke in a video on the latest Covid restrictions.

Mr Clarke has posted an update on You Tube in which he thanks customers for their support during very challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic - and he expresses gratitude to the brewery's employees for their hard work through the crisis.

He encourages customers at the brewery's Banburyshire pubs to abide by the new guidelines for dining out, observe restrictions on the numbers in parties and make adjustments to accommodate the new 10pm closure. Mr Clarke appeals to everyone to honour their reservations or cancel giving sufficient notice as 'no-shows' are beginning to escalate making the hospitality sector's recovery more difficult.

"It's a bit stricter now... We know the group numbers are limited to six and all of our pubs have taken the right measures to ensure distancing and protection is in place, so please follow their guidelines," he said.

"If you make a booking please turn up and turn up on time. Sadly across the whole sector there has been a large number of no-shows which is extremely frustrating when everything is being done well. We know it's table service only so it might take a little bit longer but we're going to do everything we can to make sure you still have a nice time.

"We know that pubs close at 10pm and that's quite a big change... the pub has to be empty and closed by 10pm so we'd ask you to adjust your timings a little bit. Do please still come out. The sooner we deal with this the sooner we can return to some sort of normality," he said.

Mr Clarke announced the arrival of their Greedy Goose winter ale in October and, while the planned Cask Ale Weekend is now not happening, a number of small-run, tasty beers are being produced to enjoy during the next week or two.
