Mr Portlock-Allan, who lives in Broughton near Banbury, said: “Like many businesses, my photography company has suffered significant financial loss as a result of Covid-19. The schools closed at a time when I would usually be doing end-of-year portraits and many of my business customers have had to make cuts to keep themselves afloat.

“While it would be easy to feel deflated, I am using this downturn as a chance to reassess and turn a negative situation into a positive opportunity. I have been doing restoration work as a side-line for years but now have the capacity to give it my full attention.

“Whether it’s metal work or furniture repair, a clock in need of restoring or a hand-crafted model that needs creating, there is no job that is too big or too small.”

As a photographer, Nathan has built a reputation for close attention to detail and a creative mindset. His skills include French polishing, welding and forging as well as brazing, soldering and building hand-crafted replica models and working railway sets. He will use his experience and apply them to a range of projects including, but not limited to, clock repairs and servicing; metal work and classic vehicle repairs.

He said: “What I offer is a very bespoke service and no two projects will ever be the same. Every customer and every job will be treated as an individual because this type of work cannot be generalised. Quite often there is huge sentimental or potentially financial value attached to the items and it is my job to ensure that it is given the right amount of respect.

“As such, every job will be subject to a free no-obligation quote where I can explain to the customer exactly what is involved and how long it will take. Some jobs may be quick and easy. Others may require more time and attention. But one thing I can guarantee is a personal service throughout.”
