The council has set £20,000 aside for voluntary organisations operating in Banbury that need extra funds to support at-risk people during the current crisis.

The one-off grants will be up to £500 per good cause. They are for bona fide charities and constituted organisations – not for individuals

There is an application form and grants will be released via the BACS system and take a few days to reach the recipient’s bank account.

Leader of the council Kieron Mallon said: “We want this be as simple as possible because help groups providing essential assistance don’t want to be spending time filling in forms when they could be helping residents.

“There is a brief form to complete and we’ll make a decision within a few hours of receipt.

"All across the town, support groups are helping townspeople and some organisations need extra funding as they face up to the challenge.

“Our Battle Fund is designed to help them.”

Details of the Battle Fund can be found at www.banbury.gov.uk

Banbury Town Council grants are for Banbury-based groups that operate for the benefit of Banbury residents.
