The return of monthly drop-in sessions at the town hall will mean that people can talk informally about concerns, face-to-face with councillors.

They will return for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdowns on Saturday, September, 3, when councillors Helen Mears and Kieron Mallon will be taking questions.

The monthly sessions will now take place on the first Saturday of each month except in August and January and two councillors will be available on

a rota basis to meet the members of the public.

Appointments will not be needed and the sessions are open to anyone between 10 am and midday, though the topics discussed must be relevant to the town and to Banbury Town Council decision-making.

Banbury Town Council deals with issues relating to parks, play areas, open spaces, cemeteries, sports grounds, allotments, bus shelters, annual events, civic events, crime prevention initiatives, the town hall, and dog litter bins. Other issues or concerns should be taken to Cherwell District Council or Oxford County Council.

Cllr Kieron Mallon, leader of the town council, said: “People can discuss issues, worries, or concerns that come under the town council’s responsibilities.

“The meetings are important to the council as we learn what people think about what we’re doing. We find out which issues mean most to people – and we listen to what is said.

“We always say that the town council is the local authority that is closest to the people and these open-house meetings demonstrate that.”
