Wroxton Church of England Primary School has closed from today, Tuesday October 13. The school fully expects to reopen after the half term school break on November 2.

A letter sent to parents and carers said the closure was due to the fact that a small number of members of staff have tested positive for Covid-19.

"We have now had more positive tests back and, as a precaution, ODST has advised Mrs Guiness and the Chair of the local governing body to close the whole school and arrange for a deep clean.

"The health and safety of your children, our teachers and other staff remains our top priority and we have taken this decision with that in mind.

"We have notified Public Health England – you should be aware that they have not required us to close, as the number of positive cases is so small, and they are confident that the school is not at the centre of an outbreak, but Wroxton is a small school and we think in these exceptional circumstances that it is 'better to be safe than sorry.'

"I am really sorry about the disruption that this will inevitably cause you as a family. The school is prepared and will be delivering learning remotely to your children over the next two weeks.

"The teachers will give you more details about that. I am very proud of Mrs Guiness and the staff of Wroxton and I know they will continue to work hard to help your children learn and make progress. We hope that by taking this small action now, we can keep the spread of any infection to a minimum."

A second Banbury area school impacted by the coronavirus is Frank Wise School. Twenty seven pupils within one bubble are not attending school. The partial closure at Frank Wise School will be from Monday October 5 until this Friday October 16.
