The cyclists are making the seven-day journey, from Saturday August 20 until Saturday August 27, in memory of Shane Corrigan who died at the age of 23 in 2018 from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP).

Shane’s mum Margaret said: “I’d not ridden a bike for over 30 years until I started training, others in the group have not cycled since they were children, so this is a massive challenge for us all.

“We are doing this to make a difference in memory of Shane, we want people to know about epilepsy risk and SUDEP so that the lives of others can be saved. If this bike ride from London to Achill (Ireland), a journey Shane made often in life, can prevent just one epilepsy-related death it will be worth it.”
