The football event comes as part of a month-long celebration of sport and health, that has already seen Spit N Sawdust boxing and fitness club put the young athletes through their paces and will be continued over the next two Tuesdays (August 16 and 23).

In upcoming weeks the Banbury BID team will be joined by local hockey and cricket coaches who will share their expertise with the young competitors.

Refreshments will be provided and participants will get a “PasSport” stamped each week they attend an event. For those that attend all of the four Summer of Sport sessions, a gold medal will be given on their last session.

Jasmine Gilhooly of Banbury BID said: “It’s really fantastic to have local clubs getting involved with us over the summer especially football after the Lionesses‘ won the Euro Cup.

“It was really important for us at Banbury BID to host some sporting activities this summer as the Commonwealth Games is in the UK this year, it was also an opportunity for the businesses we represent to advertise offers on the flyers produced if they wanted to.”
