The Care UK team at Highmarket House, on North Bar Place, will open the home’s doors for its free event on macular degeneration, a common condition impacting vision, on Thursday February 13 between 2pm and 4pm.

The event will be led by Tom McInulty, from the Macular Society, which helps people adapt to life with sight loss and regain their confidence and independence.

Jo Pohl, home manager at Highmarket House, said: “At Highmarket House, we are passionate that professional knowledge and insight can go a long way in making a difference to the everyday life of those living with macular degeneration, as well as those that care for them.

“We know that macular disease is the nation’s biggest cause of sight loss, affecting nearly 1.5 million people across the UK, and providing free events like this allows us to offer advice and guidance to the people of Banbury, while also allowing visitors to meet the team at Highmarket House and tour the home.”

The talk will provide information on the condition itself, while also giving advice on how to keep the eyes healthy and ways to remain independent for longer.
