Banbury care home group wins national care provider of the year award

Residents and the care team at The Ridings care home in Banbury, which is part of Anchor Hanover, are celebrating after the group won Large Residential Care Provider of the Year at the LaingBuisson Awards last week.

The LaingBuisson Awards honour and celebrate industry excellence in the UK health and social care services within public, private and third sectors.

Anchor Hanover, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life, was recognised nationally for its excellence in providing residential care for older people and its focus on innovation and engagement with residents. This is the second consecutive year Anchor Hanover has received the accolade.

The judges cited Anchor Hanover’s use of Memoride, a virtual cycling platform for older people, in their decision.

They said: “The Memoride, a pedal exerciser which generates an image of a town onto a screen using Google Maps, is simple yet effective to taking people ‘out.’ The business outcome and service users outcome is remarkable.”

Anchor Hanover’s Director of Care Quality Cath Holmes said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the LaingBuisson Large Residential Care Provider of the year award. The last year has been a challenging time for everyone and our colleagues have worked tirelessly to ensure residents continue to receive the highest levels of care throughout the pandemic, so we are delighted that their work has been recognised.”
