Banbury arts centre cancels several events due to coronavirus outbreak

The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury has decided to suspend all live events and film screenings until at least March 31 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The arts centre released a statement today (Tuesday March 17) outlining the suspensions and of what events.

The statement reads: "We are actively monitoring and following advice from government and Public Health England about the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

"As a small venue, we thank you for your patience whilst we make necessary adjustments in a way that best protects the health and well-being of staff and audiences, and the future of the arts centre.

"Based on the latest advice, we have decided to suspend all live events and film screenings until at least March 31, with immediate effect.

"If you are booked to attend one of these events there is no need to contact us – our box office team will be in touch with all ticket holders as soon as possible regarding their booking."

The art centre has no plans to cancel classes and workshops currently scheduled in line with current advice for schools and colleges with additional cleaning and safety measures in place.

The arts centre building, including the Café Bar, remains open to the public. The centre has implemented additional cleaning and social distancing measures, in line with current best practice.

The centre statement added: "We ask all visitors to The Mill Arts Centre to follow all recommended UK safety precautions, including frequent hand-washing. Please stay at home if you or anyone in your household have any symptoms of coronavirus including a high temperature or a new, continuous cough and follow specific guidance for higher risk groups.

"We are regularly reviewing the situation and will give details of any updates on our website: www.themillartscentre.co.uk/coronavirus-update"Like many small charities, we are working hard to manage the impact of this outbreak. Thank you for your ongoing support at this difficult time."
