There are 40 Covid cases across the Cherwell District at an increase of 17 cases over the seven day period ending on April 16.

There are 147 Covid cases across the whole of Oxfordshire, which is a decrease by 10 over the seven day period ending on April 16.

Health bosses are urging people to stick to the restrictions and maintain social distancing. People are being advised to continually keep their distance, wear face coverings, wash their hands and use hand sanitiser while out and about at shops, hairdressers, pubs and other outlets.

Oxfordshire Public Health Director Ansaf Azhar said: "Covid is still here. The number of new cases has declined due to lockdown, but the virus has not disappeared and neither has the risk."

“By all means enjoy the fact the rules have been relaxed, but do so safely by remembering the basics. If you act like we’ve boarded a time-machine and gone back to 2019, you have a much higher chance of catching Covid and passing it on to your family – it really is that simple.”

The latest Government figures cover the seven days up to April 16.

Three out of the six ward areas within Banbury town are now classed as 'nearly Covid-free.'

The following three area of Banbury town are now classed as 'nearly Covid-free' - Banbury Grimsbury, Banbury Neithrop and Banbury Ruscote.

The three other wards in Banbury have seen slight increases in Covid cases.

Banbury Calthorpe: 4 cases - increase by 2

Banbury Easington: 3 cases - increase by 1

Banbury Hardwick: 3 cases - increase by 1

All of the rest of Banburyshire is now classed as 'nearly Covid-free' with the exception of one area.
