Cllr targets safety measures for Banbury students
Cllr Mark Cherry is trying to reduce the speed limit outside North Oxfordshire Academy, after concerns were raised by Trinity Close residents in regards to alleged speeding vehicles on the A422 Stratford Road.
Cllr Cherry, county councillor for Banbury Ruscote, said: “With support of my fellow Ruscote ward labour councillors anything that improves school children’s safe access to the school must be worth looking into.
“It’s obvious with the local housing development like Bloor Homes just up the road comes more traffic so in essence lowering the speed limit would be a logical step which may include traffic calming.
“I will be working with Oxfordshire County Council officers to move a reduced speed limit forwards.”
To support such a speed reduction process the Cllr has been in liaison with Thames Valley Police to conduct a speed survey on traffic flow on the A422 Stratford Road which runs alongside the school.
He also has the full support of the principle of the school Sara Billins.
The road recently had a new puffin crossing installed as part of section 278 works.
