Every five years church schools like Cropredy Church of England Primary School have the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS), and this year Cropredy School really impressed the inspector who awarded the school a 'Good' grade.

The inspector found that the Christian ethos unites the school community, and sustained staff and governors through recent difficult times.

The inspector added that members of staff are dedicated to each other and the pupils they serve, with academic outcomes improving in a curriculum that inspires learning.

The school's Christian vision, the 23rd Psalm: 'The Lord is my Shepherd', was chosen by the school because it represents its mission to provide guidance, care and protection of every child, allowing them to flourish, develop resilience and walk with confidence on their learning journey.

The inspector concludes that Cropredy school is faithful to its Christian tradition giving clear direction and uniting adults and pupils, and is ready to walk into the future with confidence.

Chair of Governors Chris Kaye said: "The last few months have not been easy for Cropredy School, but the strong Christian character of the school has sustained governors, staff and children throughout difficult times.

"Congratulations and thanks to all, children, staff and parents, who worked so hard to provide an excellent result, a solid foundation on which to build our future success."

Interim Head Teacher Margaret Gwynne said: "I have only been at Cropredy a few months, but I have been impressed by the outstandingly wonderful children and the strength of the staff. This report confirms my conviction that at the heart of the school lies a deeply embedded Christian ethos which has sustained it in the past and will carry it on to great things in the future."

Philip Goldsworthy, an experienced head teacher, who begins work as the new permanent head after Easter said: "I am taking over the leadership of Cropredy School at a time of great national uncertainty, but I am confident that Cropredy School's, resilience coupled with the strength of staff and pupils emphasised in this SIAMS report will carry us forward. The school's Christian ethos will be behind all our efforts to nurture the children in our care."
