The team at Katharine House Hospice has expressed heartfelt thanks to the Banbury community after generous supporters came together to help transform the hospice’s doctors’ flat.
Several weeks ago, the hospice launched an online appeal asking for support to refresh its doctors’ accommodation.
According to staff, the bedroom, which is used by doctors as a space to rest while delivering 24-hour care at the hospice, has become “tired and outdated".
Within just an hour and a half of posting the request, every item on the hospice’s original wish list had been donated by members of the community.

The bedroom was then given a thorough makeover, by Lucy, Becky, Sue and Mandy from independent financial services provider Bibby Financial Services, alongside the hospice’s volunteer Dave.
This included removing old furniture and decor, building a new bed and TV cabinet and adding thoughtful finishing touches.
Jodie Frost, speciality doctor, said: “The medical team at Katharine House are hugely grateful to everyone in the community and the team from Bibby’s for the recent progress on the doctors’ on-call room.
“It really has made so much difference already to us, and we are so excited and hopeful that with this amazing support continuing, we can get it finished and unveil the final look.
“Thank you so much to those of you who purchased items for the room and to Bibby’s team, who worked tirelessly for a day to make those things a reality in the room. You are superstars!”
A spokesperson for Katharine House Hospice said: “The kindness shown by the local community and corporate supporters alike is helping ensure hospice doctors have a comfortable and restful environment, enabling them to continue delivering outstanding care to patients and their families, day and night.”
The transformation of the bedroom has already made a huge difference for doctors at the hospice; however, a few finishing touches are still needed to complete the makeover, including a bedside table and a dining chair.
The hospice has therefore updated its Amazon Wish List for anyone who would still like to support the project.
