Thousands enjoy ‘uplifting’ and ‘inclusive’ atmosphere at Banbury Pride event
Organisers have hailed Banbury Pride as a success, saying thousands of people enjoyed its uplifting and inclusive atmosphere.
Organisers of the event say that roughly 2,000 people passed through Butcher’s Row and the High Street to enjoy the Pride celebration on Saturday, May 30.
The second Banbury Pride, organised by the Banbury Pride Committee, featured live music, family-friendly entertainment, several stalls and plenty of colour.
One stall holder was Julie Faulkner, who sold her own brand of greeting cards, stickers, badges and pride goods throughout the day.

She said: “I am a very proud mum of a gay son and son-in-law. As a proud mum, it’s not just about selling products; it’s also a day where all people, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, can feel safe in our space and tell their story. It’s their day.
“This year’s Banbury Pride was such a proud and uplifting day. It was a day full of celebration, acceptance and inclusion, bringing people together across the community.
“It was so wonderful to see so many showing their support. The Banbury Pride team gave the day their everything to make the day such a success.”
The event mostly took place outside, but The Coach and Horses, Banbury Cross Inn and the Apothecary Tap hosted live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening.
This year’s event was supported by Banbury Town Council, which approved funding for the event, and allowed organisers to book entertainers without needing to charge the public for tickets.
Banbury Pride is an annual community event that is organised to celebrate the local LGBTQIA+ community as well as inclusion, diversity and equality.
