Graven Hill residents spring into action in new community garden

The Graven Hill Community Garden Group has kicked off its first spring planting season in the newly opened community garden, located within the grounds of Graven Hill Primary School, on the outskirts of Bicester.

Volunteers and young helpers came together to install planters and establish a mix of summer crops, seedlings, and saplings - helping to transform the site into a vibrant outdoor space for the community.

The project has been supported by Graven Hill Village Development Company (GHVDC) and Graven Hill contractors DGK, as part of its ongoing investment in local green initiatives and community wellbeing on the growing development. Acting as a community focal point, the new garden will also provide a hands-on learning opportunity for children to understand more about food growing and the environment.

Bryony Core, from The Graven Hill Community Garden Group, said: “This garden is a brilliant example of what can be achieved when our community works together. Seeing residents working together brought home just how special Graven Hill’s spirit of collaboration really is. We’re excited to watch the garden flourish over the coming months and become a space we can all be proud of.”

Gemma Davis, Customer Experience Director at GHVDC added: “The community garden complements the fantastic woodlands, play areas and open green spaces we’ve created across the development. We’re thrilled to see residents taking such an active role in shaping their shared environment.”

Now home to more than 600 residents, Graven Hill’s community garden strengthens the development’s reputation as a place where sustainability and wellbeing are truly at its heart.
