Banbury community group to hold screening of new climate change film
The Banbury Community Action Group will be showing the People’s Emergency Briefing film to a sold-out crowd on Saturday, April 25.
Banbury CAG will be showing the first local screening of the new film at 2pm at Lock29 on Saturday.
The screening, which has been funded by Oxfordshire County Council, is one of 2,000 taking place across the UK.
The documentary film aims to highlight the risks climate change will pose to the UK's food, health and national security.

It also looks at how local communities can prepare themselves for the changes climate change may bring.
Broadcaster and activist Chris Packham, who features in the film, said: “I’d encourage people everywhere to attend a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing.
“It creates exactly the kind of honest local conversation we now urgently need, both about what these changes mean where we live and about what we can
do together to address them.”
The film was inspired by a briefing at Westminster Central Hall in November 2025, where several climate change activists spoke to more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders in business, sport and other sectors about the implications of climate and nature breakdown.
Following the screening, members of Banbury CAG will speak to the audience about local emergency risks and how to be prepared for any emergency.
Jim Smith of Banbury CAG added: “We want to support our community in adapting to and being ready for the climate changes that will impact on all our lives. Flooding and increased temperatures are already here in Oxfordshire and will only become more challenging.
“A community that can work together and be prepared for such emergencies has a much better chance of recovering quickly.’
“People often understand these issues most clearly when they begin to think about what they may mean locally.”
The screening on Saturday is now sold out, but Banbury CAG is considering a second showing of the film.
