The new Sainsbury’s supermarket in Brackley is starting to take shape, as the steel frame has been erected and the majority of the roofing and cladding is now in place.

The supermarket is expected to open by Christmas this year and will provide around 100 jobs for local people across a range of roles and levels.

Work on the internal areas can now move forward, with installation of the new floor and internal partitions taking place through September. Preparation of the new 250 space car park, which will include four electric vehicle charging points for customers, is also progressing well.

Once open, the store will provide a selection of food and non-food products for local people, including Sainsbury’s Tu Clothing range, homeware and stationary products.

An Argos store will also be provided in the supermarket.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director, said: ‘It’s fantastic to see the store starting to take shape. We’re really looking forward to welcoming our new customers in the very near future, and in time to do their Christmas shopping’.

Cllr Chris Cartmell, Brackley town mayor, said: 'On behalf of the town council and the residents of Brackley and the surrounding area, I would like to welcome Sainsbury's to our town. This long-awaited addition will truly help residents with their choice of shopping destination. We are particularly happy to hear that the store will be open prior to Christmas'.
