New Sainsbury’s supermarket in Brackley which features a bee hotel opens its doors to the public

The supermarket includes an Argos store inside, a six-pump petrol station and even a Bee Hotel!

Sainsbury’s welcomed customers through the doors of its newest supermarket in Brackley yesterday (November 25) - the first new supermarket the retailer has opened this year.

The supermarket - over 20,000 square feet - will also include an Argos store and a petrol station on site.

Sainsbury’s property director, Patrick Dunne, said: “We’re very excited to be adding another store to our estate so we can serve the Brackley community fresh and affordable food.

“Brackley has told us loud and clear that they wanted a new Sainsbury’s and we’re proud to be opening the doors early so customers can do their Christmas shopping conveniently and safely.”

Parking is available for 250 cars, alongside motorbike parking and bicycle hoops for those opting to cycle to the store.

The construction of this new store supported hundreds of jobs, including 245 tradespeople working on the site during the course of the development. It’s opening has created 129 new jobs for the local economy with an additional 18 internal transfers.

Town Mayor of Brackley, Cllr Chris Cartmell, said: “I’d like to welcome Sainsbury’s to Brackley and I’m sure local residents can’t wait to visit the new store as they’ve watched it being built over the last six months.

“I’m also very pleased that the store has created over 100 jobs in the town. Having had a preview of the store already, I believe it will be a real asset to the local area and I’d like to wish Sainsbury’s and the new colleagues every success in this new venture.”

The retailer has also fitted its Brackley store with a brand new Bee Hotel to help the bee population thrive.

Sainsbury’s Brackley store manager, Paul Dyer, said: “We have a very excited team who can’t wait to get to work to provide local customers with a great fresh offer alongside the convenience they need.

“Everyone has worked very hard during training and to get the store ready to open for our first day in business. It’s a very special day for the team and we appreciate the support of the community.”

Sainsbury’s is inviting customers to donate food and other essential products or cash in store and online from December 1 to December 14 as part of the supermarket’s ‘Brighten a Million Christmases’ initiative and will match every donation, doubling every customer’s contribution.

The store is open from 7am-10pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
