One Below, a new UK-wide discount store chain selling everything for £1 and under, is set to open this week in Banbury

The store will open its doors in Banbury at 10am this Friday March 26.

Created by the original founders of national chain Poundworld, One Below occupies the former SuperSavers store in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre.

In a boost to the local economy, the new and fast-growing bargain retailer has invested a six-figure sum in the opening of the store, creating 30 local retail jobs for the town.

The store at Castle Quay Shopping centre will be the very first One Below to open in the Oxfordshire area.

Christopher Edwards, aged 37, managing director of One Below Retail Limited, said: “We’re delighted to have chosen Banbury as the location for our very first One Below store in Oxfordshire.

“It’s great to be able to occupy this space in the shopping centre. When other retailers on the high street are closing. We’re delighted to be able to offer new jobs to locals working in the retail industry.

“Almost 50 per cent of our team are ex-Poundworld employees who lost their role when Poundworld went in to administration three years ago.”

Cllr Lynn Pratt, lead member for economy, regeneration and Pproperty at Cherwell District Council, said: “We are delighted that One Below has chosen Banbury as the location for its first Oxfordshire store, joining our great line up of tenants and creating new jobs. The arrival of One Below is important for the town as we work on bringing new and interesting names to Banbury.”

For its opening on Friday March 26, One Below has implemented stringent social distancing and hygiene measures in order for customers to shop safely, in line with those implemented within the Castle Quay Shopping Centre.

One Below is proud to be the only store on the British high street to sell over 5,000 items for £1 or less.

The fresh up-and-coming discount chain has previously opened stores across the UK to queues of shoppers looking to bag a haul of bargains, thanks to its unique savings and product offering.

One Below will offer thousands of essential items across 10 departments including essential cleaning, groceries, medical, home, pet care, health and beauty and DIY. The store will also stock a fantastic range of Easter items available to pick up during your essential weekly shop.

A wide range of favourite household brands such as Coca Cola, Pedigree, Heinz, Kellogg’s and Cadbury’s are available at incredible bargain prices to shop in store. Plus, many popular cleaning names such as Astonish, Fabulosa and The Pink Stuff, as favoured by social media superstar Mrs Hinch.

Since One Below’s launch two years ago, the independent retailer has opened over 60 stores UK wide with plans for further expansion in 2021.

One Below has been launched by Yorkshire father and son retail entrepreneurs, Christopher Edwards (37) and Christopher Edwards Senior. The successful businessmen were the original founders of former high street retailer, Poundworld Retail Limited before it was sold to American private equity conglomerate, TPG Capital in 2014.
