Do you love eating out?

During most of the month of August you can get a 50 per cent discount when you eat in at restaurants that are registered with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme running from Monday August 3 to August 31.

Each diner can get a 50 per cent discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner) every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next month from August 3.

You do not need a voucher to use this scheme and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts. There is no minimum spend.

For example, a meal that costs £20 will be reduced to £10, and a meal for a family of four that comes to £80 will instead cost £40.

You cannot claim discount on alcoholic drinks or service charges.

The discount will be automatically available to you at participating establishments. Establishments will then claim a reimbursement from the government for the discount they’ve given you.

Participating businesses include a variety of restaurants, cafés, bars or pubs. All diners in a group of any size can use the discount.

Officials with Banbury BID designed a digital trail leading people to the participating restaurants, pubs and cafes in and around the town centre through using the LoyalFree app. Once people download the app they can enter a competition for prizes from town centre businesses.

Jo Samways, with Banbury BID, said: "Our trail is promoting our businesses in the Banbury town centre. What we're trying to do is increase footfall in the town, and let people know it is safe.

"The government scheme is really good. Hopefully it will entice customers back out. We hope our businesses find the government reimbursements swift."
