The retailer has already taken on 12 new colleagues from the local area to help staff the new supersized store, and are still recruiting for a further seven positions.

The new 32,600 square foot store includes a stand-alone Dorma department, as well as a new concept 'Made to Measure' department and a take-home today area for furniture. The store has been expanded into what was another shop next door, extending the shop’s offering and space across two floors.

Dunelm Banbury’s new-look store, also benefits from the chain’s much-loved Pausa coffee shop. Pausa is a champion for sustainability with all of its tea and coffee products supporting social and economic sustainability globally and all of its takeaway hot drink cups being made from durable, plant-based and compostable materials. Customers will also find Pausa on the free water app, Refill, to help reduce the use of single-use plastics.

The store, which has almost doubled in size, was officially opened by Facebook Community Support follower and local hero, Prabhu Natarajan, who was nominated through the store’s Community Support Group for his efforts in fundraising, collecting and donating food and toys for families who have struggled since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Store Coach Denise Shurvinton said: “We’re so pleased to be able to reopen the doors to our newly-refurbished Banbury store. The team has been working extremely hard over the past few months to kit out the new-look store, introducing a range of new departments for our local Dunelm community.

“We want to thank all of our customers who have already visited the store and look forward to welcoming even more of our local community into our new home.”

The store is operating with strict guidelines to ensure social distancing and hygiene practices are maintained. Dunelm has implemented these guidelines in all their stores, including a limit on the number of people in the store at one time, and with a controlled flow of customers around the store. There is also an enhanced cleaning regime in all areas, as well as the provision of protective equipment and face coverings for all colleagues.

Members of the free-to-join Dunelm Banbury Community Support Group on Facebook are being offered 10 per cent off their shop in-store until May 23 by simply showing that they are a member on their smartphone at the checkout.
