Learn about the foundation of freedom at Broughton Castle

Eight hundred years ago on the field at Runnymede Baron Geoffrey de Say stood firm with 24 of his peers to force the reluctant King John to seal the Magna Carta.

Now the story of that iconic document - described as the foundation of liberty - and its continuing relevance through the ages is retold at Broughton Castle, the home of his descendants.

Banbury Museum is commemorating the Sealing of the Magna Carta this summer by organising a talk with the Banbury Historical Society, to take place on Thursday June 25 at 7.30pm .
