Learn about the foundation of freedom at Broughton Castle

Now the story of that iconic document - described as the foundation of liberty - and its continuing relevance through the ages is retold at Broughton Castle, the home of his descendants.

Banbury Museum is commemorating the Sealing of the Magna Carta this summer by organising a talk with the Banbury Historical Society, to take place on Thursday June 25 at 7.30pm .

The event will be held in the Great Hall of Broughton Castle, home of Lord Saye & Sele and the Fiennes family.

The foundation of freedom of the individual, Magna Carta has been called the greatest constitutional document of all times.

The anniversary this year recognises that the Great Charter was the basis for legal and political systems around the world and a potent symbol which still resonates across the ages.

Tickets for the event are £15 per person including a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Broughton Castle will open the garden to ticket holders from 5.30pm for those that wish to picnic prior to the talk (weather permitting), and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.
