Bodicote Church Youth Drama Group presents My Fair Lady

Come and join the very talented young people of Bodicote Church Youth Drama Group at Bishop Loveday school as they share this fantastic musical – the gorgeous music will have you saying “You could have danced all night”!

My Fair Lady is a beautiful musical about transformation, patronage, gender politics and class, based on George Bernard Shaw’s lay, Pygmalion.

Acclaimed Professor and confirmed bachelor Henry Higgins makes a wager with his linguistic colleague Colonel Pickering that in six months he can pass off “gutter snipe” Eliza Doolittle as a duchess at an embassy ball.

Through arduous training, day and night, Eliza learns how to speak English “properly,” and transforms into a lady. Along the way she bewitches young Freddy Einsford-Hill and convinces a supposed linguistics expert that she is royalty! Her Father Alfred P Doolittle is also a key part of the story, undergoing his own changes, with much comical effect.

When Higgins completely fails to acknowledge Eliza’s role in her transformation, she leaves his home. It is only then that Higgins realizes that he cares deeply for Eliza.

Director of the show, Gill Crowther, said: “We can’t wait for you to see this production, the cast have worked so hard, at this challenging and emotional yet fun musical. We have so much talent in our cast and we can’t wait for our audiences to follow Eliza’s story”
