The Lynden Players present the Christmas spectacular from Thursday to Saturday December 1 to 3.

The show tells the story of Rapunzel, who is locked away in a tower for 16 years and raised by the witch, Ragwort; her parents’ punishment for stealing herbs from Ragwort’s garden.

Rapunzel is unconvinced of her “mother’s” love for her, and longs to leave her tower and explore the world.

Meanwhile, Hyacinth Horseradish is desperately trying to invent resistiscorch crops to save the villagers’ crops from the fiery breath of the giant fire-breathing worm that has terrified the village for 16 years.

Everything changes, however, when Rapscallion, the Rascal Prince, arrives in the kingdom.

He comes across a certain tower and meets a lonely, long-haired maiden...but not if Ragwort the witch and the giant fire-breathing worm have anything to say about it.

Talking about the pantomime director Jo Bailey said: “This is a fantastic family pantomime, for children and big kids of all ages - we’ve got loads of colourful characters for you to meet.

“Our larger-than-life pantomime dame, Hyacinth Horseradish, who is as colourful as she is green-fingered, the wonderfully wise Sage the Owl (he’s a hoot!), and Prince Rapscallion’s straight-laced companion, Sir Stephen, whom Hyacinth soon sets within her sights.

“I’m incredibly proud of this show and my fantastic cast have all worked so hard to bring the show to life. I can’t wait for audiences to see it.

“You’d be mad to miss this wicked (“that’s good wicked, not bad wicked!) show!”.
